KOICA (The Korea International Cooperation Agency) has completed the construction of a new agricultural machinery modernization center in the Philippines. The US$578 million funding for the center is part of KOICA's ongoing commitment to supporting agricultural development in the Philippines.
The center, AMDPC, located in Nueba Ecija, is the first of its kind in the country and will provide facilities and resources for the development and adoption of advanced agricultural technologies.
The AMDPC is expected to play a significant role in boosting agricultural productivity and improving livelihoods for Filipino farmers. The Philippines is a major agricultural producer, but productivity is relatively low due to the use of outdated farming methods. The center will help farmers adopt modern farming practices, such as mechanization, which can lead to increased yields and profits.
The center is equipped with a variety of research and training facilities, including laboratories, workshops, and classrooms. It will also house a library of agricultural materials and a database of agricultural research. These resources will be available to farmers, researchers, and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
